What We Believe
God
God is the Creator and Ruler of the Universe. God exists in three ‘persons’ or expressions as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. This one God is all-powerful, all-loving, all-knowing, and always present.
Jesus Christ
Jesus Christ is God clothed in human flesh. He is fully human and fully God and was born to live a sinless human life. He offered himself as the perfect sacrifice for the sins of all people by dying on a cross but rose from the dead after three days to demonstrate God’s power over sin and death. He ascended into heaven and will come again to judge the living and the dead, and reign as the King of Kings forever.
The Holy Spirit
The Holy Spirit is the third person of the godhead. He is equal with the Father and Son and exists in the world to make persons aware of their need for Jesus Christ and his redeeming love. The Holy Spirit also lives in every Christian from the moment of salvation to provide power for living, understanding of spiritual truth, and guidance to decide to do what is right and pleasing to God. The Holy Spirit offers a variety of gifts to enable us to serve and praise God.
The Bible
We believe that God inspired the composition and collection of the Old and New Testaments, Therefore, it is inspired, eternal and true. The Bible was given to us by God to help us know about God’s desire to love and be loved by all people and to enable us to know God’s plan for our lives and for the church.
Salvation
We believe that apart from salvation in Jesus Christ, people are lost and their eternal souls are in peril. We believe that people receive salvation and are granted access into heaven through faith in Jesus Christ rather than by doing good works (Ephesians 2:8-9). Once we receive this gift of God’s undeserved love in Christ by trusting in his forgiveness offered as a sacrifice on the cross, we are offered a new beginning here in this life–and eternally in heaven. Those who do not accept Christ are separated from God here, and eternally after their death.
Righteous Living
We believe that salvation is offered to us as a gift (grace) from God through Jesus Christ and that this gift can never be earned or deserved. However, having been loved by God it is our privilege and calling to love and serve God in obedience to God’s will. We believe that our faith is made known in how we live and what we do.
